New TOUGH GUN TT4A and TT4E Reamers Power Through
Spatter to Increase Uptime and Weld Quality

New TOUGH GUN® TT4A and TT4E Reamers Power Through Spatter to Increase Uptime and Weld Quality

WINDSOR, Ontario. (September 14, 2021) — Tregaskiss has introduced its new TOUGH GUN TT4A (analog) and TT4E (ethernet) reamers to maximize uptime and weld quality in robotic welding operations. These nozzle cleaning stations provide superior cleaning performance to power through spatter, improving gas flow and reducing porosity so more time can be spent welding.

TOUGH GUN TT4 Reamer - front view

Both reamers offer a powerful .95HP motor and 236 pounds of lifting force at 95 psi. Engineered from harder, stronger material, the cutter blades are more resistant to breaking, chipping or cracking.

Adding to the reamers’ performance are several features designed to keep robotic welding operations running for extended periods of time. These include durable valves and cylinders rated for 10M+ cycles and a wire cutter that can run 1M+ cycles without requiring maintenance. The reamers also feature a powerful motor that lasts up to 18M cycles at 80+ psi. A standard motor lubricator supports that performance by extending the life of the motor; it is highly recommended for use in damp and moisture rich environments.

New standard anti-spatter features

Tregaskiss has integrated several new standard features into the TOUGH GUN TT4A and TT4E reamers to help reduce downtime, safety incidents and costly weld defects associated with the use of anti-spatter liquid.

An anti-spatter reservoir with 20-ounce capacity reduces the need for frequent refills to improve productivity, while a low fluid level indicator sends an alert to the PLC/robot when anti-spatter solution is low. This minimizes the risk of running out and helps prevent poor weld quality from lack of shielding gas due to spatter build up. The reservoir includes a tethered cap and easy-clean filter to protect against anti-spatter contamination, which can also lead to weld quality issues. It mounts directly to the reamer frame to increase durability. The reservoir is compatible with the TOUGH GARD® anti-spatter multi-feed system to provide a continuous supply of anti-spatter solution to up to 10 reamers from a 5-gallon pail or 55-gallon drum.

Also standard is a spray containment unit that captures anti-spatter overspray in an enclosed basin, lessening the potential for slip and trip accidents, improving air quality and reducing downtime and cost for cleanup. The weld cell remains dry and clean.

Versatile features and additional options

The TOUGH GUN TT4A and TT4E reamers both feature a four-sided v-block that eliminates the need to purchase new v-blocks when changing nozzle styles, while the TT4E model with ethernet provides greater control and flexibility for remote operation.

Both reamers have external setup switches that allow independent operation of the sprayer, clamp and spindle during manual setup.

Tregaskiss offers additional options for the reamers to further enhance their versatility, including a wire cutter that removes the ball at the end of the welding wire for smoother starts and consistent stickout, along with a reamer stand. A nozzle detect sensor confirms the presence or absence of a nozzle prior to welding to support consistent weld quality and reduce rework. An optional filter/regulator extends motor life by cleaning the air supply to the reamer and keeping debris from entering the motor.

This, along with minimal fasteners and a precision-machined keyway mounting system, makes installation of the gun and mounting arm quick, easy and accurate. Adding to the ease of installation, Tregaskiss has made power pins available for an assortment of wire feeders and offers insulating discs that are designed to match various brands of cobots.

Less frequent, easier maintenance

The BA1 cobot MIG gun uses QUICK LOAD® liners that maintenance personnel or welders can replace from the front of the gun without disturbing it, the wire or the feeder connection, for faster changeover. AccuLock contact tips are also fast and easy to install.

High quality and versatility

AccuLock contact tips prevent the cross-threading that can lead to weld-quality problems. The tip’s long tail concentrically aligns within the diffuser before coarse threads engage, making the contact tips virtually impossible to cross-thread.

The consumables are part of a Common Consumables Platform™ and are also compatible with Bernard® semi-automatic MIG guns and Tregaskiss fixed automatic and robotic MIG guns. The platform minimizes inventory and simplifies its management, so more time is spent on welding.

MIG Gun Consumable System Simplifies Installation, Offers Flawless Wire Feeding

MIG Gun Consumable System Simplifies Installation, Offers Flawless Wire Feeding

BEECHER, Ill. March 6, 2019 – Bernard has introduced its new AccuLock™ S consumables system. Building on proven MIG gun consumable technology, Bernard has added advanced design features. These features ensure higher productivity and optimized wire feeding, while also simplifying installation and maintenance. The system includes a contact tip, nozzle, gas diffuser, liner, and power pin and power pin cap.

“AccuLock S consumables represent a revolutionary improvement for users of industrial MIG guns,” says Linda Ray, Vice President and General Manager. “These MIG gun consumables work together, as a complete system, improving performance and minimizing — if not eliminating — the most common gun maintenance issues.”

About the MIG Gun Consumable System

The AccuLock S consumables are designed to solve issues associated with poor wire feeding in semi-automatic MIG welding such as bird-nesting, burnback and erratic arc. The system locks in place and concentrically aligns the liner with the power pin and contact tip. This allows for a flawless wire feeding path with no gaps or misalignments. Additionally, this does not require liner measuring during installation or replacement. Welders simply cut the liner flush with the back of the power pin for perfect liner trimming — every time. Combined, these features decrease the risk of improper installation. Moreover, this decreases the possibility of costly downtime to address poor weld quality or liner replacement.

Image of AccuLock S MIG gun consumables including liner, nozzle, contact tip and diffuser

Adding to the ease of installation, the contact tips feature coarse threads that easily mate with the gas diffuser, lessening the chance of cross-threading and speeding contact tip replacement.

By design, the Acculock S MIG gun consumables reduce heat buildup, improving product life. Sixty percent of the contact tip is buried in the gas diffuser to protect it from heat damage. The shielding gas helps cool the contact tip tail. The tapered design of the consumables tightly lock conductive parts together to minimize electrical resistance and further reduce heat buildup.

As a complement to the AccuLock S MIG gun consumables system, AccuLock MDX™ consumables launched with the new Miller® MDX MIG guns in February 2019. AccuLock R consumables for robotic welding applications will release under the Tregaskiss® brand name later in 2019.

AccuLock™ series consumables add to the performance of the gun, providing a flawless wire feed path. The front-loading liner locks in place (no need for set screws) and aligns concentrically with both the contact tip and power pin to optimize wire feeding. Error-proof liner trimming, with no measuring required, reduces burnbacks, bird-nesting and erratic arc caused by liners that are too short, minimizing downtime for troubleshooting or rework.

The MDX series includes three models: MDX-100, MDX-250 and MDX-250 EZ-Select™. These guns are all compatible with Miller AccuLock MDX series consumables, and the MDX-250 and MDX-250 EZ-Select guns are also compatible with Bernard AccuLock S consumables. Both AccuLock series feature tapered connections between the contact tip, gas diffuser and neck to maximize electrical conductivity for longer product life. Coarse thread on the contact tips speeds replacement by mating easily with the gas diffuser and lessens the risk of cross-threading.

Bernard® AccuLock S consumables are an excellent upgrade to increase durability and consumable life when welding with MDX-250 or MDX-250 EZ-Select guns in heavier industrial environments. They also simplify consumable inventory for operations using a mix of Miller MDX and Bernard MIG guns.

Miller offers conversion parts to retrofit older style Miller MIGmatic M-Series guns with AccuLock MDX and AccuLock S consumables. M-Series consumables will not be compatible on the new MDX series MIG guns.

New Robotic Water-Cooled MIG Guns Offer Lower Total Cost of Ownership

New Robotic Water-Cooled MIG Guns Offer Lower Total Cost of Ownership

Tregaskiss by DINSE TWD and CWD robotic water-cooled MIG guns installed on robots

WINDSOR, Ontario. November 27, 2017 Tregaskiss has introduced two new robotic water-cooled MIG guns that offer superior cooling power for longer gun and consumable life, in addition to zero gas loss for a lower total cost of ownership.

Tregaskiss® by DINSE™ CWD robotic water-cooled MIG guns are designed for conventional robots, while TWD robotic water-cooled MIG guns are for through-arm robots. Both guns are available as part of the five-year Master Distribution Agreement between Tregaskiss and DINSE GmbH announced in September 2017.

The new robotic water-cooled guns are available in a variety of amperages ranging from 350 to 600 amps at 100 percent duty cycle. Designed with a dedicated gas line that runs from the back of the guns directly to the gas diffuser, the guns deliver cost savings since shielding gas has zero opportunity to escape.

The guns also use a unique dual-circuit cooling system that runs the length of the front end, providing more effective cooling and lower operating temperatures. This feature results in longer MIG gun and consumable life, as well as less downtime for consumable changeover. Cooler operating temperatures also reduce the amount of spatter that adheres to the nozzle, saving time and money in cleanup, extending nozzle life and lowering overall consumable costs.

CWD and TWD Robotic Water-Cooled MIG Guns are available in clutch and solid mount models, with a variety of mounting arm and neck options to achieve Tool Center Point (TCP). They also include integrated air blast and a simple liner design, with one end pre-dressed at the factory to minimize the opportunity for operator variation in liner trimming.

Regain Up to 95 Percent of Lost Productivity for Tip Changes With the New TOUGH LOCK HDP Contact Tips

Regain Up to 95 Percent of Lost Productivity for Tip Changes With the New TOUGH LOCK HDP Contact Tips

WINDSOR, Ontario. November 14, 2017 — Tregaskiss has introduced its new TOUGH LOCK® HDP contact tips, designed to significantly extend contact tip life in pulsed MIG welding applications — resulting in increased production throughput.

                          TOUGH LOCK HDP contact tips

Precision engineered with a special alloy that provides a higher resistance to wear and arc erosion, the TOUGH LOCK HDP contact tips allow operations to regain as much as 95 percent of the productivity lost during typical contact tip changeovers. TOUGH LOCK HDP contact tips can do so by lasting six to 10 times longer than copper and chrome zirconium tips, which often need to be replaced twice as frequently during pulsed MIG welding due to its high heat input. The new contact tips also feature a tight bore tolerance, provide increased arc stability to improve weld quality and reduce spatter, along with its associated cleanup.

TOUGH LOCK HDP contact tips are available in packages of 5, 25 or 100 and can be used with .035-, .040- and .045-inch solid copper-coated wires. They are compatible with TOUGH LOCK Consumables, including nozzles and retaining heads, and require no change to Tool Center Point (TCP). The contact tips also benefit from compatibility with the TOUGH GUN reamer robotic nozzle cleaning station, which helps extend the life of robotic MIG guns and consumables by automatically removing spatter.
